My Story
Developing the Wardensville Confluence
THE MOMENTUM CONTINUES:
Hi everyone, Eddie here,
I am sharing this update with a renewed sense of purpose and an exciting vision for a place I once called home, and I am eager to return and invest in.
As some of you may know, I'm a prior Wardensville resident, an East Hardy High graduate, and a proud Marshall University alumnus. I'm keen to apply all I've learned to contribute to my hometown. Leveraging my passion and expertise, I've developed a comprehensive business plan to revitalize Wardensville's old White Star building.
My dream is to transform this beloved landmark into a vibrant hub for delicious food, community connection, and economic growth. This isn't just a business venture for me; it's a mission rooted in my desire to make a positive contribution to the place I once called home.
Revitalizing The White Star building means so much more than just opening a new eatery. It means:
• Creating a vibrant gathering place where locals and visitors alike can enjoy delicious meals and make lasting memories.
• Boosting our local economy by generating jobs, supporting local producers, and attracting tourism to Wardensville.
• Preserving a piece of our town's history and giving it a new lease on life, honoring its legacy while forging a bright future.
The Project is Officially Moving Forward!
The incredible momentum we've been building has paid off in huge ways! I'm thrilled to share that The Wardensville Confluence and BBQ Country of West Virginia are officially moving forward! Thanks to your belief and support, we've successfully secured the key elements that transition this from a dream to a defined, active project.
This past period, we have:
• Worked out a crucial lease agreement with the sellers!
• Finalized the process to purchase the BBQ Country Franchise rights from my Uncle.
• Completed the registration of BBQ Country of West Virginia with the state.
• Officially opened the business checking account, giving it a financial base.
The original goal of securing the property and franchise was successful! Now, my focus pivots entirely to the next, critical phase: converting the vision into reality for the projected 2026 opening.
How Your Contribution Helps The Opening!
Your investment, no matter how small, will directly help us power through the next stage of development, the essential work needed before we can open our doors:
• Final Kitchen Equipment Acquisition: Purchasing the last essential pieces of major kitchen equipment to ensure the highest standards of food safety and efficiency.
• Acquisition of New Furniture & Interior Updates: Securing new tables, chairs, bar seating, and décor to finalize the look and function of the dining and community areas.
• Pre-Opening Administrative Expenses: Covering necessary permits, final licenses, and initial insurance premiums to ensure full compliance and a smooth start.
• Contingency Fund: Creating a small reserve for unforeseen renovation or administrative costs that often arise right before a business opens.
• Initial Inventory & POS Equipment: Sourcing the first round of high-quality ingredients and initiating the purchase and training of the POS system.
Join Me: Ongoing Updates for Our Supporters
This project is a shared endeavor for our community. It's about bringing a cherished landmark back to life and creating a space that everyone in Wardensville can be proud of. Thank you for taking the time to learn about this vision and celebrate our recent progress. Your generosity and belief in the future of the old White Star building are a powerful catalyst for its success.
Your initial support through this campaign will be foundational, and equally vital will be your ongoing partnership, which includes visiting the revitalized historic landmark and helping to spread the word once open.
Your continued patronage and enthusiasm will truly make this a thriving community hub!
As the sole fundraiser, I am raising these funds to directly support my businesses, The Wardensville Confluence and BBQ Country of West Virginia. All donations will be strategically allocated to essential leasehold improvements (renovations), the acquisition of final kitchen equipment, and pre-opening operating costs (including permits, licensing, and insurance).
Funds will be deposited into a secured bank account specifically designated for this project, ensuring all contributions are used solely for this business venture's purpose. I am committed to transparent communication, and every single contributor will receive regular updates on the progress of this amazing investment, and other exciting news that show how your efforts are bringing my 2026 opening vision to life.
With deepest gratitude,
Eddie Williams,
The Wardensville Confluence, BBQ Country of West Virginia.
*Personal Note: I am committed to complete transparency, honesty, and integrity throughout this journey. Any new contributions will assist with the initial opening of BBQ Country WV and associated costs. All contributions received to date have helped cover the BBQ Country Franchise Fee, the Business Registration cost, and my Food Handlers Certificate.
